Deutsch: „In Blau über beiderseits ansteigender silberner (weißer) Zinnenmauer mit einem dreizinnigen Torturm und geschlossenem schwarzen Tor schwebend eine dreitürmige silberne (weiße) Kirche in Seitenansicht; darüber ein silberner (weißer) Schild, darin ein zweigeschwänzter, blau bekrönter, -bewehrter und -bezungter roter Löwe, oben überdeckt mit einem vierlätzigen schwarzen Turnierkragen.“ Das Wappen der Stadt geht in seiner modernen Gestaltung mit Zinnenmauer, dreitürmiger Kirche und dem Löwen mit Turnierkragen auf die Darstellungen zurück, die sich schon auf den alten Stadtsiegeln finden.
English: „The arms were granted on December 9, 1975, but have been in use a long time before. Wipperfürth received city rights between en:1217 and en:1222. The oldest seal dates from around en:1250 and already shows a city wall, church and a small shield with the arms of the Counts of Berg, who ruled over the city. In the 14th century the small shield was removed. The present arms are based and nearly identical to the composition of the first seal. The city wall denotes the civic character of Wipperfürth, the church is the local St. Nicholas church.“
