Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Weddinghofen, seit 1966 Stadtteil von Bergkamen: „In Silber (Weiß) ein in drei Reihen je sechsfach geteilter in Schwarz und Gold (Gelb) geschachter Balken; darüber drei und darunter zwei schwarze aufrechte schwebende Weizenähren.“
Das erst 1959 entstandene Gemeindewappen zeigt eine Kombination von märkischen Schachbalken (als Zeichen der früheren Zugehörigkeit zur Grafschaft Mark) und dem Wappen der der beiden Familien von Velmede, das eine Wappen zeigt in Silber einen in drei Reihen von Schwarz und Silber geschachten Schrägbalken und das andere in Silber 10 Kornähren.
English: „Argent, a fess chequy sable and Or of three; above three and below two upright pending wheatears sable.“
The arms were granted in 1959 and show a the fess chequy. Its a combination from the arms of the County of Mark and the of the Lords of Velmede. The wheat ears symbolise die agriculture an the five hamlets in the municipality. |
