Object history Der Nadelbaum als Symbol des Waldes und darunter der Bach in der vorderen Schildhälfte sprechen für den Ortsnamen Walderbach. Die Geschichte der Gemeinde ist eng verbunden mit der Zisterzienserabtei Walderbach, einer Gründung der Landgrafen von Stefling-Riedenburg und Burggrafen von Regensburg. Das Steflinger Wappen, einen mit drei Rosen belegten Schrägbalken mit wechselnder Tingierung, führte das Kloster seit mindestens 1463 im großen Siegel. Das Wappen der Steflinger findet sich noch heute über der Orgel der Klosterkirche Walderbach.
