Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Vernum, Sitz Hartefeld seit 1969 Stadtteil von Geldern: „In Grün eine silberne (weiße) Glocke zwischen drei, 2:1 gestellten, mit den Querbalken zur Glocke weisenden silbernen (weißen) Antoniuskreuzen.“ Das Wappen steht für die vor 1460 erbaute Kapelle zu Ehren des hl. Antonius; Glocke und Kreuze sind Sybole dafür. Grün steht für die ländliche Umgebung. Das Wappen wird sowohl von Vernum, wie auch von Hartefeld verwendet, welche bis 1969 die Gemeinde Vernum mit Sitz in Hartefeld bildeten. Heute sind beide Ortsteile der Stadt Geldern.
English: „Vert, a bell Argent, surrounded from three Tau crosses Argent in ration 2 : 1 with the bars to the bell.“ Bell and Tau-crosses are all symbols of St. Anthony, the patron saint of the local chapel, built in 1460. The green field symbolises the agricultural character of the municipality.
