Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Uentrop, seit 1975 Stadtteil von Hamm: „Gespalten von Gold (Gelb) und Rot; vorne ein mit drei silbernen (weißen) Pfählen belegter roter Balken, hinten eine zum Spalt hin verschobene, aufrechte silberne (weiße) Spindel mit goldener (gelber) Rolle über einem abwärts zuckenden goldenen (gelben) Blitz.“
Das Wappen wurde der erst seit 1968 neu bestehenden Großgemeinde 1969 verliehen. Rechts steht das Wappen des Geschlechts von der Recke, da sich das Gemeindegebiet mit seinem früheren Gericht Haaren-Uentrop zum großen Teil deckt, in dessen Siegel das Wappen der Patrinonialherren stand. Die Spindel weißt auf die frühere Textilindustrie und der Blitz auf das Kraftwerk hin.
English: „Per pale Or a fess gules charged with three pales Argent and gules in the upper half closed to the pale, a spindle Argent charged with reel Or, above a downwards twitching flash Or.“
The arms were devised in 1969 and show in the right half the arms of the Von der Recke family who owned large parts of the municipality in the Middle Ages. Left are a spindle as a symbol of the textile industry and a lightning as a symbol for the large power station in the municipality. |
