Description
English: The arms were officially granted in 1922. „The arms are based on the old seal of the town, dating from the 15th century. A later seal, from 1597 shows the same composition. As no colours were known, the colours of the County Jülich were chosen, as the town historically belonged to Jülich."
Deutsch: „In Schwarz ein goldener (gelber) Torbau über einer Stadtmauer mit roten Dächern und Mittelturm darin oben zwei schwarze Schallöffnungen über einer schwarzen Toröffnung; auf dem Mittelturm eine goldene (gelbe) Kugel, rechts und links außen auf den Seitendächern je ein goldener (gelber) kleiner Spitzturm, rechts und links oberhalb des Tores je eine runde schwarze Öffnung.“ Das Wappen basiert auf einem Siegel aus dem 15. Jahrhundert und stellt ein Stadttor dar. Die Farben stammen vom Wappen des Herzogtums Jülich.
