Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Setterich seit 1972 Stadtteil von Baesweiler: „In Schwarz ein rotbewehrter silberner (weißer) steigender Löwe.“
Das Wappen wurde 1961 durch den nordrhein-westfälischen Innenminister verliehen. Der Löwe entstammt dem Wappen der Freiherren von Reuschenberg zu Setterich, welche großen Einfluss im Herzogtum Jülich hatten. Ob der Löwe einen Bezug zum Herzogtum Jülich hat, ist nicht geklärt.
English: „Sable, an armed and langued gules lion rampant Argent.“
The arms were granted in 1961. They show the lion of the arms of the Lords von Reuschenberg Setterich, who had big sucess in the Duchy of Jülich. If the lion is derived from the arms of Jülich is not mentioned.
