Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Rotthausen, seit 1929 Stadtteil von Gelsenkirchen: „In Gold (Gelb) ein rotes Haus mit silbernem (weißem) Fachwerk und offenem Tor, in dieses hineinragend eine aufrechte blaue Pflugschar im Schildfuß; über dem Giebel rechts und links ein blaues Andreaskreuz.“ Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile sowie auc für Rotthausen Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden. Das Wappen ist ein sogenanntes "redendes Wappen"; die Pflugschar im Schildfuß steht für den Namensbestandteil "Rott-", der sich von "roden" herleitet. Das Fachwerkhaus darüber symbolisiert den Namensbestandteil "-hausen". Die Andreaskreuze sollen an die einstige Thingstätte auf dem Oberhof Rotthausen erinnern.English: „Or, a house gules with timbered framework Argent and open gate, therein extended from the base an upright plowshare azure; above the gable two saltires azure.“
The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s and for Rotthausen too; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of the districts. The arms are canting; the plowshare stands for "-Rott" (German "roden"), and the timbered framework house for "-hausen". The saltire remember the old "Thingspiele in the "Oberhof Rotthausen." |
