Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Bauerschaft Rodberg, seit 1929 Stadtteil von Essen als Teil von Kupferdreh, 1899 ging bereits ein kleinerer Teil an Velbert unter dem heutigen Namen Rottberg:
„Mit Zinne geteilt in Gold (Gelb) und Blau, belegt mit einer goldenen (gelben) aufrechten Saufeder.“

Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Essener Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden.

Das Wappen ist ein sogenanntes "redendes Wappen"; die Speerspitze (hier eine Saufeder steht für "Rod-" (von "roden") und die Zinne für "-berg". Die Farben sind die Essener Farben.

English: „Party per embattled fess Or and azure, charged with a boar spear head Or.“

The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts.

The arms are canting; the boar spear head stands for "Rod-" (German "roden" -clear) and embattled shield for "-berg" (hill). The colours are derived from the arms of the City of Essen.
