Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Riesenbeck, seit 1975 Ortsteil von Hörstel: „In Rot, zwei goldene (gelbe) rechtsschräge Wellenbalken begleitet oben und unten von je einer goldenen (gelben) Schaufel.“
Das Wappen ist "redend"; die Wellenbalken stehen einerseits für (-beck - Becke - Bach) und andererseits für den Dortmund-Ems-Kanal, an dem die Gemeinde liegt. Die Schaufeln stehen für die Landwirtschaft und die Farben sind die des Bistums Münster.
English: „Gules, two bends wavy Or, accompanied from a shovel Or beneath and one above.“
The arms were granted on August 3, 1939. The wavy bend is a canting element, Beck=Bach means stream and symbolises in this case for the Dortmund-Ems channel in the municipality. The two shovels symbolise the agricultural character of the village at the time. The colours are derived from the colours of the State of Münster, as the village historically belonged to Münster. Another explanation for the shovels is that they represent the two plants of the Niemeyer company, manufacturers of agricultural equipment, in the municipality. |
