Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Rellinghausen, seit 1910 Stadtteil von Essen:
„In Silber (Weiß) ein durchgehendes rotes Kreuz über einem rechtsschrägen blauen Wellenbalken.“
Im 17. Jahrhundert ließ die Äbtissin von Essen in ihrer Eigenschaft als Reichsfürstin ein WappenFile:Wappen Stift Essen.svg für das kaiserlich-freiweltliche Stift Essen erstellen. Im rechten unteren Viertel des Schildes erscheint das Wappen von Rellinghausen. Das Kreuz steht entsprechend der christlichen Funktion, für dieses ehemalige adlige Damenstift und der Wellenbalken deutet die Lage an der Ruhr an.

English: „Argent, a bend wavy azure charged with a continuous cross gules.“ In the 17. century the abbess of Essen got made arms for the imperial Essen Abbey. Below in the right quarter the arms of Rellinghausen was to be seen. The cross symbolise the chapter of nuns in the municipality and the bend the Ruhr river.
