Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Stadt Orsoy: „In Grün über einer silbernen (weißen) Zinnenmauer mit vierzinnigen Torturm und geschlossenem rotem Tor, drei silberne (weiße) Pferdeköpfe im Verhältnis 2 : 1.“ Es handelt sich hier um ein sogenannte "redendes Wappen" - die Pferde in der Aue (Orsoy). Die Stadtmauer steht für die Stadt Orsoy, die die Stadtrechte bereits im 13. Jahrhundert erhielt. Das älteste bekannte Stadtsiegel zeigt die gleichen Symbole.
English: It is not quite known when Orsoy received city rights, but it is mentioned as a city in 1284. The arms are based on the oldest seal of Orsoy, which also dates from the end of the 13th century. It shows three horse-heads over a city wall. The horse-heads may be canting (Ors = Pferd/Ross or horse) in old-German. Smaller seals only show a single horse-head.
