Deutsch: Wappen des ehemaligen Kreises Köln 1975 aufgelöst - Rechtsnachgolger ist der Rhein-Erft-Kreis: „In Rot ein aufrechter goldener (gelber) Schlüssel, beseitet von zwei Schilden; darin vorn in Gold (Gelb) ein linksgewendeter, rot bewehrter steigender schwarzer Löwe und hinten in Silber (Weiß) ein blau bewehrter und gekrönter, doppelschwänziger steigender roter Löwe.“
Das vom Heraldiker Wolfgang Pagenstecher geschaffene Wappen wurde am 22. Mai 1939 durch das Preußische Staatsministerium verliehen. Es bezieht auf die historischen Gebiete welche je zur Hälfe zum Erzstift Köln (Schlüssel) und zu den Herzogtümern Jülich (schwarzer Löwe) und Berg (roter Löwe) gehörten. English: „Gules a key upright Or between two escutcheons; dexter, Or charged with a lion counterrampant sable armed and langued gules and sinister, Argent charged with a double-tailed lion rampant Gules armed, langued and crowned Azure.“ The arms were granted on May 22, 1939. They show the symbols of the the patron saint of Electorate of Cologne (key) and symbols of Duchy of Jülich (lion sable) andDuchy of Berg (lion gules). |
