Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Bauerschaft Huttrop, seit 1908 Stadtteil von Essen:
„ In Gold (Gelb) ein blauer Hut mit roter gekreuzter Kordel und fünf blaue aufrechte Tropfen im Verhältnis 2:2:1.“

Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Essener Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden.

Es handelt sich hier um ein klassisches "redendes Wappen", es stellt einen Hut begleitet von Tropfen dar. Der Namensteil "trop" steht für Dorf. Die Silbe Hut hat jedoch durch die Forscher verschiedenste Deutungen erfahren und bleibt weiterhin ein Rätsel (Höhe, Hügel, Hütte, usw.). Für die Wappengestaltung ist das allerdings nicht problematisch, denn in der Heraldik ist die wissenschaftliche Bedeutung zweitrangig. Wichtig ist die bildliche Vorstellung, die der Klang der Namens vermittelt.

English: „Or , a hat azure with a cord gules, accompanied from five upright gouttes azure in ratio 2:2:1.“

The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts.

The arms are canting; the hat stands for "Hut" and the gouttes for "trop" in German "Tropfen".
