Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde der 1966 gegründeten Stadt 1968 vom nordrhein-westfälischen Innenminister verliehen. Es vereint die Symbole der Wappen der größten ehemaligen Gemeinden Weidenau (Industriekulisse und Wellenbalken) und Klafeld-Geisweid (Hüttenarbeiter).
English: The arms were granted in 1968 and combine elements from the arms of the former municipalities. The chief is derived from the arms of Weidenau, the other part from Geisweid. The arms as a whole are partly canting (Hütte=factory) and symbolise the importance of steel industry for the city. |
