Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Handorf, seit 1975 Stadtteil von Münster (Westfalen): „Geteilt durch einen Wellenschnitt in Rot und Gold (Gelb), oben im linken Obereck ein schwebendes goldenes (gelbes) Kreuz, unten ein bogenförmiger roter Weidengeflechtzaun.“
Das Wappen zeigt die münsterschen Farben Gold und Rot. Das Kreuz steht für die Schutzpatronin Petronilla, nach der auch die Kirche benannt ist. Der Wellenschnitt symbolisiert die Lage an der Werse. Das Weidengeflecht steht für die in Handorf traditionelle Korbflechterei.
English: „Party per fess wavy shield gules and Or, above in the left upper corner, a cross couped Or and below an arched wattle work fence gules.“
The arms show the colours of Münster diocese. The cross symbolises the patron saint Petronilla, the fess wavy the Werse river and the wattle work stand for the traditional handcraft in the village. |
