Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 13. Oktober 1958 vom rheinland-pfälzischen Innenminister verliehen. Die Symbole des Schildhauptes weisen auf den Weinbau und die Landwirtschaft hin. Die Wolfsangel ist dem seit dem 18. Jahrhundert bezeugten früheren Wappen der Gemeinde, einer mit einem "G" belegten Wolfsangel entnommen und soll die Jagd, die Fischerei sowie die Rheinschifffahrt symbolisieren.
English: The arms were granted on October 13, 1958 and show in the chief the main agricultural crops, wheat and grapes. The other part shows a wolfhook, which was already used in the 18th century in local arms, but charged with a "G". It symbolises hunting, fishery and the shipping on the Rhine river.
