Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Bauerschaft Frillendorf, seit 1929 Stadtteil von Essen: „In Rot, vier mit ihren Giebeln zur Schildmitte gekehrte silberne (weiße) Häuser mit schwarzem Fachwerk und Tor.“ Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Essener Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden. Der Ortsname wird abgeleitet von "Vringdorpe" oder "Vrintrope" und bedeutet "Dorf der Freien". Es handelt sich demnach um ein "redendes Wappen" welches durch die Anordnung der Häuser dargestellt wird. Die daraus entstandene zwei Pfeilen ähnelnde Schildfläche soll ein Freiheitszeichen darstellen.English: „Gules, four houses Argent with their gables swept to the middle of the shield, timber framework and gate sable.“
The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts. The arms are canting; Frillendorf means "Village for free people". The assembly of the houses and the resulting free area in the middle of the shield could be pointed as to arrows as sign for freedom. |
