Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Bauerschaft Byfang, seit 1929 Stadtteil von Essen:
„In Silber (Weiß) ein rotes Andreaskreuz, belegt linksschräg mit einem silbernen (weißen) Zepter und darüber rechtsschräg drei silberne (weiße) Rosen.“

Das Wappen wurde von Kurt Schweder entworfen und hatte nie offiziellen Charakter. Ende der 1980er Jahre schuf der Heraldiker für alle Essener Stadtteile Wappen. Sie sind inzwischen von der Essener Bevölkerung gut angenommen worden.

Das Wappen zeigt ein altes Rechtssymbol, ein Andreaskreuz belegt mit einem Zepter. Die Rosen stammen vom Wappen der Herren von Drimborn, welche 1661 die Herrschaft Byfang vom Stift Rellinghausen erhielten.

English: „Argent, a saltire gules charged sinister with a sceptre Argent, thereupon dexter three roses Argent.“

The arms were drawn by Kurt Schweder who designed coats of arms for all districts of Essen in die 1980s; they were never official used, but meanwhile recognized by the citizens of Essen and its districts.

The arms show an old symbol of judge, the saltire with the sceptre. The three roses are derived from the arms of the Lords of Drimborn, who got the "Herrschaft Byfang" from the Rellinghausen Abbey in 1661.
