Object history
Deutsch: Der sogenannte Rautenkranz ist vom Wappen der ehemaligen Benediktinerabtei Elchingen abgeleitet, wo er an den Klosterstifter, den Markgrafen Konrad von Meißen, erinnern sollte. Im Gemeindewappen bezieht er sich auf Güter, die dieses Kloster im 13. Jahrhundert auf Markung Breitingen besessen hat. Auf die Lone, die das Gemeindegebiet in einem gewundenen schmalen Tal durchquert, weist der blaue Wellenpfahl in der unteren Schildhälfte hin. Das Innenministerium hat das Wappen samt der Flagge am 13. November 1956 verliehen.
