Deutsch: Bettenfeld besitzt im 519 Meter hohen Mosenberrg einen ehemaligen Vulkan mit gut erhaltenem Kratersee. Im Wappen ist diese landschaftliche Besonderheit heraldisch dargestellt.
Bereits im Jahre 1239 war der Hof Bettenfeld im Besitz Theoderichs von Malberg (Beyer, UKB 111, Nr. 669). Diese Zugehörigkeit bestand bis zum Ende der Feudalzeit. Das Zeichen der Malberger, ein rotes Schildchen in Silber. Es ist im unteren Schildteil aufgenommen. Kirchen-und Ortspatron von Bettenfeld ist seit alter Zeit der hl. Johannes der Täufer. Er führt als Attribut ein Vortragekreuz. Im Wappen ist dies als Tatzenkreuz wiedergegeben. Die beiden linken Spickel verweisen auf den Buchstaben B und insofern auf das alte Gerichtsiegel von Bettenfeld, das ein B zeigt. Fachheraldisches Gutachten Das Landeshauptarchiv hat mit Schreiben 2 Zi/270-Bettenfeld, am 13.06.1983 den Entwurf im Grundsatz gebilligt, indes einige Änderungen erbeten. Diese sind erfolgt. Die Bedenken wurden mit Schreiben vom 29.07.19 3 des LHA Koblenz endgültig ausgeräumt. |
