Object history
Deutsch: Baiersbronn ist die flächengrößte Gemeinde Baden-Württembergs und war dies auch bereits vor der Eingemeindung von Röt (1971) und Huzenbach, Klosterreichenbach und Schwarzenberg (1974). Über 85 Prozent der Gemarkung sind mit Wald bedeckt. Das Waldgewerbe, der Bergbau und die Glasmacherei bedingten eine weitgestreute Besiedlung des Gebiets. So sind allein die vielen Weiler, Siedlungen und Höfe des an der Einmündung zweier Nebentäler ins Murgtal gelegenen Hauptortes Baiersbronn über sieben Schwarzwaldtäler verteilt. Das für den Ortsnamen „redende" Bild des Brunnens begegnet in den Siegeln Baiersbronns seit Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts. Die gegenüber den älteren Darstellungen vereinfachte Zeichnung erhielt das Wappenbild anlässlich der Verleihung von Wappen und Flagge durch das Innenministerium am 15. November 1956.
