Deutsch: Das 1903 verliehene Wappen geht auf ein Siegel aus dem 13. Jahrhundert zurück welches zunächst nur den Jülicher Löwen zeigte, der an die frühere Zugehörigkeit zum Herzogtum Jülich erinnerte. Seit 1511 ist das Bildnis des Patrons der Benediktinerabtei, St. Vitus, belegt. Da er zu einem der Vierzehn Nothelfer gehört, zieren 14 Sterne das Wappen. Der blaue Balken steht redend für den Gladbach. |
