Description
Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Alstaden, seit 1910 Stadtteil von Oberhausen:
„Ein von je neun Feldern Schwarz und Silber (Weiß)gesäumter Schild; unter gespaltenem silbernen (weißen) Schildhaupt, darin vorn rechtsgerichtet ein schwarzer Bauer mit einem schwarzen Pflug und hinten schräg gekreuzt ein schwarzer Schlägel und ein schwarzes Eisen; unten in Grün über einem waagerechten silbernen (weißen) Wellenbalken, ein flügelspreizender silberner (weißer) Schwan.“
Die Farben, Schwarz und Silber beziehen sich auf die Geschichte Alstadens. Der Bauer mit Pflug erinnert an die Besiedlung durch fränkische Bauern im 5. Jahrhundert. Schlägel und Eisen stehen für den früheren Steinkohlenbergbau. Der Schwan und der Wellenbalken symbolisieren die Ruhrauen sowie die Lage an der Ruhr.

English: „Compony bordures argent and sable; below a chief Argent per pale, ahead charged with a farmer sable with plow sable sinister, rear a hammer sable saltirewise with a pick sable; vert above a fess wavy Argent horizontal, a wing-spreading swan Argent.“ The colours Argent and sable stand for the history of the municipality. The farmer with the plow remember on the first settlers, which were frankish farmers, in the 5th century. Hammer and pick symbolise the former coal mining and the swan with the fess wavy the location by the Ruhr river and its wetlands.
