Deutsch: „Unter goldenem (gelben) Schildthaupt, darin fünf rote Rauten fünfmal von Rot nach Gold (gelb) geteilt und überdeckt von einem golden (gelb) bekrönten, doppelschwänzigen, silberen (weißen) Löwen.“ Die historische Begründung des Wappens geht bis ins Mittelalter zurück. Die im 15. Jahrhundert ausgestorbenen Herren von Alfter führten in goldenem Schild 3 rote Balken (manchmal auch 4) überdeckt von einem gekrönten silbernen Löwen. Dieses Wappen wurde verfremdet durch die Hinzunahme der Raute, die dem Wappen der bis 1969 selbständigen Gemeinde Witterschlick entlehnt wurden. Für die Ortsteile Alfter, Gielsdorf, Oedekoven, Impekoven und Witterschlick befindet sich somit jeweils eine Raute im Wappen.
English: „The arms show the arms of the Lords of Alfter, who lived in the village in the Middle Ages. The diamonds in the head are added and are taken from the seal of the village of Witterschlick. The number indicates the five former municipalities.“
