Object history |
Deutsch: Pfarrei und Ort Abtweiler gehörten zum Kloster Disibodenberg, das im Jahre 1108 durch die Benediktiner gegründet wurde. Das Patriarchenkreuz ist das Symbol der Benediktiner.
Im Jahre 1259 wurden die Benediktiner abgelöst durch die Zisterzienser, deren Symbol die rot und silber geschachtelten Schrägbalken sind. Im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert gehörte der Ort Abtweiler den Freiherren von und zu Stein-Kallenfels. Ihre Grabmäler sind im Chor der ev. Kirche zu Abtweiler erhalten. Als Symbol für die Zugehörigkeit Stein-Kallenfels steht das geminderte Wappen deren von Stein-Kallenfels in Form des herschauenden silbernen Löwenkopfes im grünen Feld. |
