Description |
English: A copper alloy shield-shaped harness pendant with heraldic decoration. A pointed shield with a suspension loop (set a right angles) at the top in the centre. The front of the pendant was decorated with enamel and gilding, patches of which are retained. The heraldic design comprises red background with three gold lions and a blue label (band) at the top. The label has rectangles (pionts) hanging down which also had gilded fleur de lys on them. The heraldic descriptions is: Gules three lions passant guardant in pale or, a label azure. These are the arms of England with a label of France and are those of the earls (and subsequently Dukes) of Lancaster. The back is undecorated.
