Summary[edit]
DescriptionCurling on Stormont Loch - geograph.org.uk - 1654988.jpg |
English: Curling on Stormont Loch After a long cold spell, the ice is thick enough for curling. Six sheets were cleared of snow on this day.
To deliver the stone, the curler stands on a spiked metal plate called a crampit. A target area (the house) is scored on the ice at each end of the sheet, and a pin marks the centre of the house. A bottle-shaped pin can be seen on the second sheet in the picture. |
