Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Sprinklers at Culyer Gore Park in the Fort Greene neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City, at the corner of Fulton Street and Greene Avenue. The western part of the park was purchased by the city of Brooklyn in 1845 for $1, and was named for Dr. Theodore Ledyard Culyer, minister of the nearby PArk Presbyyterian Church and then the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church. A statue of Dr. Culyer was planned, but he demurred. The park deteriorated in the 1960s and 70s, and was renovated in the 1980s. It reopened in 1981, and was expanded in 1983 by closing off the part of Cumberland Street which passed below it, and adding that land to the park; a portion of Carlton Avenue was also added.
