Description All of that climbing around castles and jumping was thirsty work, so Pandy decided to take a break in Porto, the ancient city on the Douro River that is the "home" of Port wine. The wine is actually made from grapes grown in the Douro River valley about 100 to 130 miles to the east, but it is transported down the river to Vila Nova de Gaia (right across the river from Porto) in wooden casks and aged there. Here's Pandy with his personal cask of 1979 Colheita Reserva at Croft cellars. It originally held 5,500 liters of Croft's finest, but the need for occasional sampling means that it is now down to just 5,340 liters -- which is plenty for a small bear.
