| Description |
English: Crocuses in Buckingham Road, Penn, Wolverhampton This is at the junction with Balmoral Road. Although it is an unexceptional display, they are pretty enough and add welcome colour to the area each year. What is notable is the date, 16th March*, and the crocuses are in full bloom. Daffodils to the right of the tree base are barely showing the yellow of the buds, with St David's Day long gone. Seasonal plant development is several weeks late. It has been a long cold winter, with frequent hard ground frosts until just three nights ago (and again last night). Today, at last, consecutive daytime temperatures have been into double figures.
