Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cripplegate Park Looking through the open gates of the park to one of two pear trees in the park.

At least one of the trees is a Worcester Black Pear tree. An 1878 Public Health Act planned for this area to first be used as a refuse tip then become a recreation ground. It became the latter in 1932 as shown on the gate above the Worcester City coat of arms.

Notice the three black pears and the epithet "Fidelis Civitas" - the faithful city, loyal to King Charles II in the 1651 civil war.
