Skull trophy of the Bunum people. 19th century. National Museum of Anthropology of Spain.

Summary[edit]

Description
Cultura Bunum, Taiwan. Siglo XIX. Bolsa: Altura: 34 cm; anchura: 38 cm. Cráneo: Altura: 14,70 cm; anchura: 13,40 cm; profundidad: 19,10 cm. Nº inv. CE2184. Museo Nacional de Antropología de España.
English: Skull trophy of the Bunum people, which lacks the lower jaw; It retains a molar at each end of the upper jaw. It is inside a hemp net bag with two handles and rope to close it. The skull belongs to a male adult. Although age is difficult to determine, it presents obliteration of coronal and sagittal sutures, indicative of a fairly advanced age. He has severe dental wear and abscesses in the right M1 and appears to have alveolar re-absorption in M2. The wear of the teeth is associated with age and diet. There is no intentional head deformation, but it seems that he suffered a nose trauma. It is part of the temporary exhibition Cut heads. Symbols of power in the Museum of Prehistory of Valencia.
