Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha, the esteemed scholar of Punjab, was one of the most prominent figures of his time (1861 to 1938 AD) who consistently pursued self-improvement and educational advancement from his childhood to his old age. Due to his significant contributions, Bhai Saheb is regarded as an epochal figure, characterized by his steadfastness and clarity of purpose, as well as his continuous efforts to fulfill his objectives. If we classify Bhai Sahib's entire literary work, the initial phase from 1884 AD to 1897 AD was influenced by the Braj language in accordance with traditional conventions. In the second phase, around 1907, influenced by the Singh Sabha movement, he bolstered the religious and social identity of Sikhism by writing several books aimed at promoting Sikh principles and way of life. Among the numerous works of his third period, the magnum opus "Gurushabd Ratnakar Mahan Kosh" (1930 AD) stands as the culmination of Bhai Saheb's lifelong dedication.Despite holding various high-ranking positions in the princely states of Nabha and Patiala, Bhai Saheb diligently continued writing his diaries, intending not only to preserve personal experiences but also to share them with literature enthusiasts.

Notably, Bhai Kahan Singh's journeys to various regions are briefly documented in these diaries, reflecting his evolving personality captured both in the diaries and his comprehensive dictionary. The diaries (1901 t0 1938 AD) 0f Kahan Singh Nabha offer a glimpse into Punjab's public life and culture from about 150 years ago, shedding light on the governance styles of Phulkian princely states' rulers and British administrators, along with theoretical observations.

मेसोपोटामिया पब्लिशर्स, दिल्ली द्वारा प्रकाशित इन डायरियों का संपादित संस्करण डॉ. जगमैल सिंह भाठुआं और डॉ. रविंदर कौर रवि, पूर्व सहायक प्रोफेसर, संगीत विभाग, पंजाबी विश्वविद्यालय, पटियाला द्वारा पुस्तक रूप में तैयार किया गया है।
इन बहुमूल्य डायरियों में भारत और पंजाब का एक अलिखित इतिहास है, ।  निस्संदेह इन डायरियों के प्रकाशन के कारण पंजाबी प्रेमियों और शोधकर्ताओं को भाई काहन सिंह जी के व्यक्तित्व का एक और नया पहलू देखने को मिलेगा। डायरी लेखन साहित्य की एक प्रमुख विधा है जिसमें लेखक अपनी अनूठी और व्यक्तिगत कल्पना के माध्यम से दुनिया और समाज को प्रबुद्ध कर मानसिक रूप से आनंदित या खुश महसूस करता है। दुनिया के महान लोग सदियों से डायरी लिखते आ रहे हैं और उनकी डायरी के प्रकाशित होने से लोगों को लेखक के निजी अनुभवों से जीवन में सही-गलत की पहचान करने की बहुत प्रेरणा मिलती है।
