| Description | I am done with the Itsukushima shrine and it is time to leave now. I am really short of time as I have an over hour long trip to Hiroshima station to catch my Shinkansen train back to Hiroshima. On my way out, I spotted this standard feature in all the Japanese temples I have seen so far- a series of counters to buy religious doo dads, temple related souvenirs and good luck charms. I observed that these counters were always heavily subscribed as seems to be the case here too. The items on sale are not exactly cheap bit I guess the proceeds go to the maintenance and upkeep of the temple. The items on sale are displayed in the frames you see here, suspended above the counters. (Hiroshima,Japan, Apr/ May 2019) |
