Summary
English: Residential building in closed development in Cottbus, Marktstraße 2, After 1995 the front of the street repaired and the interior of the building renovated respectively modernized. Representative four-storey building with rich façade decoration. The five-axis façade symmetrically divided by over two floors reaching middle oriel. The floors separated by strong cornices, the windows separated by elaborately decorated pilasters with motifs from the late Renaissance form (scrollwork, hardware, cartridges). The building edges on the ground floor accentuated by cartridges with lions heads and cloth hangings. The building ornaments still enhanced on the oriel, which is supported by mighty, leaf-decorated consoles (the front windows framed by corner pillars with ornamental clasp, additionally the upper plastically stuccoed with women's heads and fruit hangings, balcony finishes with finely ornamented wrought-iron grid between massive posts). The straight cutted windows of the middle floors with simply profiled framing; the coupled windows of the upper floor with massive, downwardly tapering pitch posts. All windows are renewed according to the old model. Central entrance with front door of the building time (the glass inserts with filigree grating). Striking façade finish by voluminous, net-like decorated, the wide cantilever eaves carrying consoles. Inside large parts of the earlier floor plan structure as well as construction and equipment details such as the contrarotating staircase and apartment doors preserved. With its façade splendor characteristic of the imperial period, the building is a significant example of contemporary bourgeois rental residential house architecture. Noteworthy is the remarkably fine and differentiated decoration of the well preserved façade, based on Renaissance forms. The building contributes significantly to the varied overall picture of the market street; cultural heritage monument |
