Description

Cortinarius vernalisierraensis Bojantchev, Ammirati, Niskanen & Liimat. sp.nov.

Image location: Eastern Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Siskiyou Co., California, USA

Growing on the ground in mixed woods, mostly conifers. Caps up to 8.6 cm across. Spores ~ 8.0-9.1(9.7) X 4.9-6.1 microns, ellipsoid and slightly rough. Q(range) = 1.36-1.71 Q(avg) = 1.55 n=20 Did not do KOH test on these before drying. 4-22-2015;Related to Cortinarius ashii and to be named later per Dimitar.
