Description

Cortinarius vernalishastensis Bojantchev, Ammirati, Niskanen & Liimat. sp.nov.

Image location: Eastern Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Siskiyou Co., California, USA

Growing near conifers ~ 5000 ft. Caps up to 7.0 cm across. Slight traces of yellow on stipe base for some. Spores ~ 7.8-9.1 X 4.9-5.5 microns, elongate and slightly smooth. UV light on dried material neg. except for a few light reddish spots on stipe base.

Recognized by sight: Seems to fit well. I guess the other option is rumoribrunsi. At least the one on the left seems to have the “cup” at the base.
