Cortinarius lebre Garrido

Image location: Reserva Nacional Nonguén, Biobío Region, Chile

Cortinarius lebre Garrido es un hongo comestible que es especialmente frecuente en el centro sur de Chile, donde se asocia principalmente con N. obliqua, pero también crece debajo de otros árboles del género Nothofagus.

El ejemplar de la fotografía se encontraba bajo N. obliqua. El epíteto se refiere al nombre nativo chileno de este hongo comestible: “Lebre” de consistencia dura y con el píleo de color violeta. Presenta un olor desagradable similar a una mezcla de alcanfor y naftaleno que a menudo se puede percibir a varios metros de distancia de los basidiomas.
