Cortinarius kroegeri Niskanen, Liimat., Harrower, Berbee, Garnica & Ammirati Image location: Quadra Rocks Point, Moresby Island, Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, Canada This is the Holotype collection, photographed in situ. Originally identified as Cortinarius limonius, DNA sequence data later established that this was a closely related but distinct species apparently endemic to the Pacific Northwest coast of North America. GenBank no. FJ157053 Holotype specimen at the UBC Herbarium in Beaty Biodiversity Museum in Vancouver.
