Description

Cortinarius californicus A.H. Sm.

Image location: Fort Saint James, British Columbia, Canada

These specimens were quite small in size, and the cap was more tawny than the photo shows. On the fence as to whether they should be called C. semisanguineus or C. smithii – half inclined to call them C. sp or C. spp.

Recognized by sight: orange to red gills; orange stipe
