Summary[edit]

Description VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Colonel Paul Olsen, Norfolk district commander, thanks Second Mate Weldon Davis and the rest of the crew for the tour of the Currituck. Olsen spent several hours onboard and underway as the Currituck dredged the shoaling of Rudee Inlet. The Currituck, based out of Wilmington, N.C., was off the Virginia Beach coast July 18-21, 2012 before heading to the Outer Banks in N.C. During the vessel’s four-day stay off the Virginia Coast, Norfolk District’s Kristin Mazur, project manager for the dredging at Rudee Inlet, brought Col. Paul Olsen and several district employees and interns to the dredge site to meet the crew, tour the vessel and see first-hand how a hopper dredge works to re-nourish the shoreline.
