Description
English:

Patinated silicified wood corner-notched projectile point.

This corner-notched projectile point is made from silicified, or petrified, wood. Silicified wood is created when silica, a mineral, is dissolved in water that is then absorbed by and replaces wood’s cellular structure. As a result of this absorption, the wood transforms into a durable rock suitable for making projectile points.
