Title |
Copper alloy zoomorphic figurine in the form of a goat dating to the Roman period (43-410AD) |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman zoomorphic figurine of a goat, dating from c.43-410AD. The figurine is moulded in the round but is now very worn. There are traces of the animal’s horns/ears and muzzle. The forelegs are present, but the rear legs are slightly truncated however, between the back legs there is a small protruding element which may represent the genitalia. The surface of the animal’s body is slightly pitted and worn but it is possible to see traces of repetitive curving, linear decoration on the body, probably representing the animal's hide.
