Copper alloy trefoil mount c. 1600-1700AD
Description
English: Copper alloy trefoil strap fitting/mount dating from the post medieval period c. 1600-1700AD, in the form of a clover leaf. The trefoil mount has a wavy stem. The upper surface is slightly domed with moulded decoration. The lower surface is convex and is undecorated but has two pointed lugs that have been bent to opposing sides. The object has a dark a dark brown patina.

Similar mounts can be found on the database - see SUR-3DCF67 and HAMP-DED291. Read (2001) has published a similar example see page 34, Ref 281.

Length: 23.5mm; width: 19.8mm; thickness (exc. Lugs): 3.0mm; thickness (inc. bent lugs): 6.3mm; weight: 3.70g
