Description
English: Complete copper alloy domed (closed) thimble dating c.1520-1620AD. The sub-conical thimble is circular in plan with the sides tapering down towards the base. The lower part of the thimble has been slightly squashed but the diameter at the junction of the sides and top is 15.1mm.

The circular indentations are arranged in a right-hand spiral from the base to the top of the dome. There is a narrow plain border around the base. There is no maker’s mark.

Dimensions:  Height: 16.9mm; length: 19.6mm; width: 16.1mm; thickness: 0.5mm; weight: 3.8g
