Copper alloy locking buckle dating c1350-1450AD
Description
English: Copper alloy, double loop rectangular locking buckle with a drilled frame for a separate spindle dating c. 1350-1450AD.  The buckle comprises a double-looped, asymmetrical rectangular frame, with an off-centre expansion in profile, which is perforated to accommodate a separate copper alloy spindle. The outside edge of the larger loop is expanded, with a central groove forming a pin rest. The pin comprises of a cylindrical chape, through which the spindle is fed, with an integral triangular projection forming the pin (the tip is now missing). Projecting beyond the frame the spindle forms one part of a larger 'U-shaped' arm, this being truncated by an old break.
