Title
Copper alloy human head, possible an escutcheon for an Iron Age or Roman Bucket.
Description
English: Copper alloy escutcheon in the form of a human head of possible Iron Age or Roman date (c.100BC to 100AD). The face has distinctive lentoid eyes and a simple nose, with a short straight cut line for the mouth. There are also faint traces of mould line suggesting a hairline across the forehead and down the sides of the face. The back of the object is flat. Prof Martin Henig (pers comm) suggests this may be an applique from a bucket or similar.

See NCL-41DE75 for a similar example.
