Description |
English: Copper alloy annular brooch complete with pin, dating to the medieval period c. 1200-1400AD. The main part of the band is rectangular in section. The pin, which is also copper alloy, is square in section and tapers to a point. The upper surface of the brooch has two concentric grooves inbetween which has been stamped lettering. This main represent genuine script however, nonsensical inscriptions were a common trait of this type of brooch. The underside of the brooch is plain. See YORYM1458 on the database for a similar example.
