Copper alloy Roman clothing pin c 125AD
Description
English: Copper alloy pin most likely dating from the Roman Period. The pin head is reminiscent of a poppy-head shape. The top of the head has an incised cross; the sides have incised chevrons. The shaft of the pin tapers to a point, but has been bent at the mid point. The head of the pin has a dark brown patina with some small areas of corrosion. The shaft of the pin is corroded and only some of the original surface survives.

Diameter of the pin head: 13mm; height of pin head: 14.6mm; length of shaft: 17.5mm; weight: 21.3g
